Following a Path Uniquely Yours

Labels. Tough things, eh? It seems no matter what you align yourself with, people aren't going to be happy.
Honestly, I'm not even happy with the terms available to me. Just like with "What to call God/Goddess" I find almost every single label I've come across to describe my views to be limiting and not totally "true" for me. Probably because I am forging my own little path right now.
I think a lot of people are in the same boat as I am. Maybe you still feel a pull to Christ, and a longing for loving a Goddess under the moonlight at the same time. Perhaps good ol' prayer makes you feel good, but candles, herbs and some ritual work also helps. Perhaps you are walking a line, that just shouldn't be a line in the first place-a line that really only exists because of labels.
If so, then like me, you might find yourself having to frequently ask the question "Who made this wrong? Who made this OK?" If the answer is "People" and NOT "the Divine", then please feel free to smash those things to smithereens in your own practice. That's easier said that done of course-we have lifetimes of forced opinions and standards in our memories, and thousands and thousands of years of social norms forced upon us. So it's OK to falter now and then. It's OK to be under the moonlight in a robe with a crystal and a cast circle and suddenly freak out-after all, that's what society has trained us to do. And that can be even harder if you are melding paths, because what you are doing doesn't have the official stamp of approval of ANY group. And we as people tend to want to know that what we are doing is OK with others.
We have to give ourselves permission to not NEED permission from others. To check what we are doing with the divine and ourselves, and no one else. We have to give ourselves permission to walk our paths. With that of course comes the responsibility of being your own guide...with no rede or golden rule, will you point to both or neither for your moral compass? If neither, what ARE your standards? Walking your own path comes with a lot of questions that only you can answer. Which means you will be doing a lot of thinking, reading, writting and meditating.
But if you can commit to yourself-to making sure you do what feels right and what checks out with whatever moral creed you choose to follow (or make)...to being true to what speaks to your soul, then you can walk a path. A path both ancient and new.
